The greatest platforms are built when experience and purpose collide. Tonichi Bonoan is a former Philippine national youth football player, Web3 professional, and crypto content creator. With more than two years of experience in SaaS and five years in Web3, Bonoan has worked across business development, partnerships, growth strategy, and community engagement.

Today, he uses content to challenge misleading financial information, communicate his own perspectives, and make complicated topics such as cryptocurrency, blockchain, and decentralized finance easier for Filipinos to understand.

From the Football Field to Web3

Bonoan’s journey began long before content creation. At De La Salle University, he balanced academics, leadership, and competitive sport. He was a consistent Dean’s List student and served as Assistant Vice President of the Young Entrepreneurs’ Society, a student organization with more than 500 members.

His passion for football also led him to represent the university’s varsity team, compete in the UAAP, and become part of the U-19 Philippine national football team, commonly known as the Teen Azkals. These experiences gave him the consistency, discipline, and collaborative mindset that would later support his professional journey.

Bonoan eventually expanded his career into SaaS and Web3, the growing ecosystem of blockchain-based products and services. His work has focused on developing partnerships, building communities, and helping technology companies grow. After spending several years in the industry, he recognized another opportunity to use his experience: creating content that could make complicated ideas more understandable and accessible.

From Experience to a Platform

Bonoan’s platform was built on the question: How can people make better financial decisions when so much of the information they encounter online is misleading, confusing, or incomplete?

He wanted the freedom to share perspectives that he believed could benefit Filipinos, even when those ideas challenged popular opinions. His interest in content creation grew stronger after repeatedly encountering questionable claims about finance and money online.

“I wanted to debunk that while giving my own opinion,” he explained.

Bonoan does not present himself as someone who has every answer. He approaches content as an opportunity to explain his reasoning, contribute another perspective, and encourage people to examine the information placed in front of them.

“I’m not saying I’m right about everything, but I try my best to present my case and share stories,” he said.

His willingness to remain honest about what he knows and does not know gives his content a more personal foundation. Bonoan’s goal is not simply to tell audiences what to believe. He encourages them to think more carefully about the financial ideas, promises, and opportunities they encounter online.

Turning a Setback into Purpose

The purpose behind Bonoan’s content became deeply personal after he experienced a major financial setback. He shared that he was once scammed out of his entire net worth at the time, an amount worth millions of pesos.

The loss could have remained a private and painful experience. Bonoan chose to use it as a reason to speak more openly about financial safety, personal responsibility, and the risks that can accompany digital assets.

“You might have seen the video where I literally got scammed out of my entire net worth at the time, which was millions of pesos,” he shared.

The experience strengthened his motivation to create content that treats financial knowledge with care. Bonoan refused to allow the setback to define the end of his journey. He transformed it into an opportunity to help other people become more informed and cautious when navigating the digital economy.

“That sparked something in me to share financial knowledge in a safe manner, and to show how to use these setbacks as opportunities for growth,” he said.

His experience shows that sharing knowledge responsibly does not always begin with success. Sometimes, it begins with admitting what went wrong, examining the decisions that led to it, and using the lesson to help someone else avoid the same outcome.

Making Crypto Easier to Understand

After working in crypto for five years, Bonoan recognized that many people remained interested in the industry but struggled to understand what was actually happening. Technical language, exaggerated promises, and online misinformation often made the subject feel more complicated than it needed to be.

He began creating content about crypto, technology, and other ideas that interested him, with a particular focus on explaining Web3 through simple storytelling. One of his first videos, Crypto Explained Using McDonald’s, introduced cryptocurrency without relying on jargon or unnecessary complexity.

His journey has since grown beyond creating videos online. Bonoan spoke in Bali at the U.S.-Indo-Pacific FinTech Forum, where he explained Bitcoin, blockchain, and decentralized finance to policymakers, business leaders, and traditional finance professionals.

In 2026, DCN Global also introduced Bonoan as the trainer for its Digital Assets 101 program, which focuses on the real-world use of digital assets, online safety, and helping beginners understand how the technology works.

These experiences have allowed him to bring together his knowledge of Web3, business development, storytelling, and community engagement. His work demonstrates how technical expertise becomes more valuable when it is communicated in a way that invites more people into the conversation.

Advice for Creators

Bonoan’s experiences serve as an inspiration to aspiring creators and young professionals to question the information around them, remain honest about their limitations, and use their personal experiences to help others.

His journey also shows that credibility does not require pretending to have every answer or hiding every mistake. Credibility can be built by presenting ideas honestly, explaining the reasoning behind them, and remaining willing to learn as new information becomes available.

From his experiences as a national youth athlete, technology professional, and content creator, Bonoan emphasizes the importance of discipline, independent thinking, and turning difficult moments into opportunities for growth.

A setback may change the direction of a person’s journey, but it does not have to determine where the journey ends. For Bonoan, losing millions of pesos became the beginning of a clearer purpose: sharing financial knowledge more safely, making complex ideas easier to understand, and helping Filipinos approach the digital economy with greater awareness.

What began as a desire to challenge misinformation has grown into something larger. Bonoan is building a platform grounded in curiosity, resilience, and the belief that even the most complicated ideas can create meaningful change when people are given the opportunity to understand them.

“I wanted to be my own boss while spreading ideas I believed in.”
